Educational Contract PDF Print E-mail

The Civil Service Commission has granted Tom Blunt an educational contract that basically states he has to start his contract at the rate of three (3) hours per year. This is a slap in the face to all of our sisters and brothers that have tried to promote and have been turned down because of education requirements. As I see it, we have two options, The first being that we say or do nothing, let the CSC put this educational contract in place, then everyone use it as a means to advance when applying for a promotion. We just ask for the "Tom Blunt Clause" in our educational contract. The other option is that everyone call the Ethics Hotline and complain at the injustice that is occurring because of the CSC's decision in the Tom Blunt case. Mr. Blunt signed the educational contract in 2008 and has yet to enroll in a class. It is totally unfair to those of us that have tried to do the right thing, and looks like the City of Tulsa is making a mockery of their own educational contracts. At 3 hrs per year, it would take 22 years to get the associate degree that is required for Mr. Blunt's position. The best part.... Mr. Blunt can retire in a year. I hope that every City of Tulsa employee who views this CSC ruling as a travesty will call the Ethnics Hotline (1-877-888-0002) and file a complaint.
